Chairman Tidjane Thiam’s Visit

From February 23rd – 28th 2022, our board Chair Tidjane Thiam was in Rwanda accompanied by two investors: Adam Gishen, CEO of Freedom Acquisition I and JB Rolland Chief Technology Officer of Credijusto/Banco Covalto.

During his visit the Chairman met different government officials and leaders including the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, the Minister of ICT and Innovation, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, CEO of Rwanda Development Bank, and the Chairman of Southbridge Group. The main themes discussed were compliance, DTAAs, fintech opportunities, financial services, investment structuring through KIFC, SME funding, entrepreneurship, access to green finance, creating conducive regulation for fintech and how technology can be a positive force for business, the economy, and the planet.

His Excellency President Paul Kagame received Mr. Thiam for an audience, where they discussed Kigali International Financial Centre’s achievements over the last two years and plans for the future.

Mr. Thiam participated in the official opening of the KIFC Club a premier pan-African financial network for financial services providers, fintech leaders, corporate services providers, angel, and impact investors. The Chairman toured Norrsken which is a space dedicated to helping entrepreneurs and innovators solve the world’s greatest challenges. He took part in the panel discussions on ‘KIFC-The Home of Africa’s Fintechs’.

Accompanied by the two investors, the Chairman toured the Genocide Memorial and paid tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
