Rwanda, UNDP launch Africa’s largest innovation fund

The Kigali International Financial Centre will domicile the headquarters of the United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) financing facility, known as Timbuktoo Fund, which was launched in Davos, Switzerland, in January 2024. This fund focuses on supporting startups and entrepreneurs in Africa, particularly in the technology and innovation sectors. The goal of this initiative is to invest over $1 billion in both catalytic and commercial capital over the course of the next decade. The fund will be utilized to establish a distributed innovation network of eight pan-African hubs located in key ecosystems.
