Diko Mukete

Why Work in Finance

Mr. Diko Mukete, is a former Director of Governance, Economic and Financial Reforms at the African Development Bank (AfDB). During his 25-year career at the AfDB, he held various positions, including the pioneer Head of the AfDB’s country office in Ghana, and Chief Country Economist in the West and North Africa regional departments.

Mr. Mukete was the AfDB’s Resident Representative in Rwanda, with responsibility for Burundi, from 2007 to 2011. In this position, he played an active role in the Rwanda Joint Governance Assessment, which was undertaken, jointly, by the Government of Rwanda and development partners. He chaired the Budget Support Donors Group and co-chaired the Budget Support Harmonization Group in 2008. Guided by his strong passion for Africa’s development.

Mr. Mukete worked on a wide range of development projects across the continent, ranging from institutional support to structural adjustment and government budget support operations. He also led several successful economic and financial policy dialogue with Governments across the continent, on deepening economic and financial reforms. Before joining the African Development Bank, he worked for the Cameroon National Investment Corporation (1982-1991) as a Principal Economist/Financial Analyst, and Division Manager in the Department of Operations.
