From the 19 – 25 June 2022, The Government of Rwanda is hosting the 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Kigali under the theme “Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming” with a focus on the current and most pressing economic and business issues, as the global economy recovers from recent crises.
During the Commonwealth Business Forum 2022, The Kigali International Finance Centre (KIFC) hosted a high-profile event on Tuesday 21st June 2022 between 5pm-7pm. The event was titled “Transforming Rwanda into a Pan-African Hub: the KIFC Journey”. The 90-minute session was attended by Right Honorable Dr. Edouard Ngirente, CEO of RDB Claire Akamanzi, other business leaders and policy makers alike to analyse the crucial role that KIFC is playing in accelerating Rwanda’s development strategy; to showcase how KIFC is facilitating investment; and how it is transforming the country into a pan-African financial services hub.
A number of high-level experts spoke at the KIFC session including Dr Uzziel Ndagijimana, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Government of Rwanda; Nick Barigye, Chief Executive Officer, Rwanda Finance Limited (RFL); Nick O’Donohoe, Chief Executive Officer, British International Investment; Joe Moynihan, Chief Executive Officer, Jersey Finance; Fadilah Tchoumba, Secretary General, African Business Angels Network; Ntoudi Mouyelo, Chief Investment Officer, Rwanda Finance Limited; Shola Akinlade, Chief Investment Officer and Co-founder, Paystack; and Pardon Mujakachi, VP Strategy and Partnerships, Chippercash Africa Owen Ruwodo, Founder and Executive chairman at Arigo Investments Africa, amongst others.
CHOGM is a unique opportunity for KIFC. This is the second time that the event is taking place in Africa in 14 years and is one of the first major global in-person events after the COVID-19 pandemic.
